Happiness is the journey, not the destination…

This is interesting.  See, I’ve always grown up believing (consciously or subconsciously) that happiness is something you find, like the result, the end goal.  Sort of like if you have this, this, and this… all worked out, then you will have found happiness.  And by this, this and this, I mean the man, the house and the family – as cliche as that sounds.  The doting husband, simple but practical whilst also a family man, a great cook and a forward thinker.  A house near the sea, not too big but not too small, room for the kids to run around and of course fenced for the dog we’ll get in a few years. And a couple of kids, probably a boy and a girl, maybe a few more.  Maybe a larger car. So as I sit here and type this I wonder (without having any of these things), due to this misconception about happiness, have I never allowed myself to be happy with my life the way it is? To live in the moment and enjoy the journey? Or ultimately have I always been searching for something more, to achieve more, or have I been waiting to arrive at… destination happiness?
